Howard the Duck (from "Howard the Duck," 1986)
George Lucas usually defends his creations to the death, but even he seems to
have disowned this much-pilloried comic adventure, based on the Marvel Comics
character. (Lucas only produced and "presented" the film, though most of the ... more
marketing and advertising boldly feature his name on it.)
The title character is a wisecracking, stogie-smoking fowl who is
accidentally transported to our world, which he believes is occupied by walking
and talking "apes." (A troupe of Munchkin-sized actors played Howard, and
television character actor Chip Zien provided his voice.)
Bing: More about 'Howard the Duck' | More about Lea Thompson
While he tries to find a way home, Howard has to contend with a scientist
who's been possessed by a malicious alien presence (Jeffrey Jones), and even finds time for a creepy
interspecies romance with would-be musician Beverly Switzer (Lea Thompson of "Back to the Future").
