Towering at 7 feet tall, Andre Roussimoff was one of the best known
professional wrestlers in the world for nearly 30 years. As Andre the Giant, he
helped launch the WrestleMania franchise with his historic bout against Hulk
Hogan in 1985. Hollywood had little ... more use for Andre, aside from thankless guest
spots on shows like "The Greatest American Hero" and "The Fall Guy," and a
memorable appearance as Bigfoot on "The Six Million Dollar Man." And if that was
all he had ever done, Andre the Giant would not be remembered for his acting.
But then along came a little film called "The Princess Bride" (1987), co-starring Andre the
Giant as Fezzik, one of two less-than-ruthless henchmen of the nefarious
Vizzini, and his place in film history was written in stone.
Greatest screen moment: Every scene in "The Princess Bride"
with him in it.
